Current Status of Digitalization in HR Departments of Sri Lanka
What is Digitalization in HR Departments?
The process of
modernizing operational HR procedures to make them automated and data-driven is
known as HR digitalization. It involves forsaking conventional, paper-based
working methods in favor of employing digital tools to optimize, cut expenses,
enhance operations, and improve employee experiences.
For everything from
payroll, benefits, and performance management to candidate offer letters and
onboarding, traditional HR systems rely on face-to-face interactions, filing
cabinets, and a ton of paperwork.
Current Status of Digitalization
Organizations had to alter the way they
conduct business as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic to lessen the danger of
the virus spreading. This includes modernizing company processes and HRM
procedures using digital technology. Technology is now essential to supporting
this digitalization and enabling HR practices to continue online throughout the
pandemic (Gigauri, 2020).
As the sudden COVID-19
pandemic changed how businesses operate, e-HRM and DT increased worldwide. As a
result, many organizations started to rely on technology to perform their
operations, and the HR department has a significant role in implementing this
change (Banu, 2019).
Technology currently
plays a dual manifestation of a part in conventional business processes. When
employees work remotely, for instance, technology is crucial; digitalization
paves the path for continuing corporate operations. Face-to-face working needs
to be restored in order to close the growing gap in physical engagement. As a
result, HRM is quite important in this DT. Digitalization will make it easier
to interact with HRs and determine their needs (Gigauri, 2020).
Conclusion
Although many HR firms
have already undergone a digital transition, there are always new
justifications for reviewing and updating current HR technology. There are new
imperatives to enhance the candidate and employee experience, ranging from
raised employee expectations regarding their work experience and dealing with
HR to the talent race and quiet quitting. In the recent years, HR has faced
with numerous changes brought on by remote or hybrid work, leading to the
creation of new systems or methods of operation.
